Many people, on a daily basis, leave trash around because they feel as though it doesn't have an effect on them. And it isn't like this trash is rare, it actually isn't uncommon. You can walk outside and see a few soda cans and a candy bar wrapper just laying on the ground. Without realizing it, these people are slowly but steadily destroying our planet. Litter can have many negative effects, such as polluting water we and other animals need to survive, clog up drains and cause floods, and cause eutrophication and dead zones in our waters, killing fish from lack of oxygen.
OUR GOALToo many people in this day and age litter. We're aiming to educate them about what they are really doing to our Earth. |
Litter in America
In America alone, in a single year,
250 million tons of trash are produced. That is the weight of around 1,666,667 blue whales, the largest mammals in the world. |
We aren't alone on the planet
On average, over 1,000,000 animals, marine and avian alike, die because of the excess amount of trash in the environment. That is over 1,000,000 animals that are no longer keeping the food chain in balance because of our selfishness.

How this affects the things we love
If we keep creating and leaving trash, at this rate, things like camping and canoeing will be a distant memory. People in the U.S. like to do these things, but if we litter, the trees and wildlife in the forest will be gone, and that will ruin the fun in camping.
